Pico Laser tattoo removal is the safest and most effective way of removing a tattoo you no longer want. Treatments are super quick and have very little healing time. Fading a tattoo before a cover up also gives you and your artist a lot more freedom when it comes to choosing a new tattoo.

The advanced technology of the Picotech Pico laser allows for faster shattering of tattoo pigments, reducing the number of treatments needed to achieve the desired outcome.

However, it is important to note that no laser tattoo removal method can completely remove all coloured ink pigments. Black and grey ink are the easiest to remove, followed by dark green. Colours such as yellow, purple, and fluorescent hues are more challenging to remove.

All NEW clients must have a consultation before treatment even if you’ve had a tattoo removal treatment elsewhere.

(Please select both consultation and treatment if you are wanting possible treatment on the same day as your consultation).

During the consult we will go through the process with you, including pricing and answer any questions you have about removing your tattoo.

Picotech's unique mode of action is based on delivering ultra-short picosecond pulses of energy to tissue. These bursts of energy create photoacoustic shocks that break pigmentation into smaller, easier-to-remove particles.

532nm laser:

  1. Pigment problems: 532nm laser is mainly absorbed by melanin and red pigment, so it is suitable for removing pigment problems on the skin surface, such as freckles, sun spots, red blood streaks, etc.

  2. Red and Orange Tattoos: The 532nm wavelength also has better absorption of red and orange tattoo pigments, so it plays a role in tattoo removal.

1064nm laser:

  1. Deep pigment problems: The 1064nm laser wavelength penetrates deeper into the skin and can treat deep pigment problems, such as dark spots and deep acne scars.

  2. Vascular lesions: The 1064nm wavelength is mainly absorbed by hemoglobin, so it is suitable for treating vascular problems, such as facial vascular nevus, facial redness, etc.

  3. Black and dark tattoos: 1064nm laser is suitable for removing black and dark tattoo pigments.

755nm laser:

The 755nm laser is mainly used to remove pigment problems on the skin. Specifically, the 755nm wavelength laser is suitable for removing melanin and dark pigments.

  1. Freckles: 755nm laser can be used to remove freckles on the face because the melanin in freckles absorbs laser light of this wavelength.

  2. Sun spots: Laser treatment with 755nm wavelength is suitable for removing dark spots on the skin surface caused by sun exposure.

  3. Melasma: Melasma is a type of deep pigmentation, and the 755nm laser can help lighten or remove this type of spot.

  4. Black tattoos: 755nm laser is suitable for removing black or dark tattoo pigments because this wavelength has better absorption of melanin.

What to expect during and after your treatment?

Pico laser is an FDA-cleared picosecond laser that is commonly used for the treatment of tattoo removal, acne scars, wrinkles, dark spots and melasma. Pico Laser is non-invasive cosmetic procedure with minimal side
effects. However, it’s quite normal to experience the following:

Skin Preparation:

Limiting sun exposure is crucial in the weeks leading up to your laser treatment session. Tanned or sunburned skin can negatively affect the procedure results and may increase the risk of complications. Apply sunscreen regularly and wear hats or protective clothing when out in the sun.

CEASE OTHER TREATMENTS

If you're using any products or treatments that could irritate your skin, such as retinoids or chemical peels, stop using them at least a week before your laser session. We will also tell you when it is safe to resume these treatments.

Day of treatment:

We asked that you arrive with a clean face, or clean treatment area and be well hydrated. If receiving a Pico Laser treatment, please wear a low neck-line, or lose clothing in the area to be treated.
Before Photos will be taken (these are kept on your profile with us to monitor results).

Numbing cream is optional during treatment. Welcome to apply EMLA numbing cream 1 hour prior to arriving in clinic.
Our Pico laser has three different wavelengths of 1064nm, 755nm and 532nm and treatments are customised to suit your skin tone and/or tattoo pigment colour for the safe removal of pigment to ensure there are no/minimal adverse effects. Settings will be customized via consultation to safely treat your individual skin tone, making it one of the best choices for laser tattoo removal available on the market today.

A typical session varies anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour. A minimum of 4 or 5 sessions are usually required, spaced at 4 weeks apart. How can you help the treated area heal following treatment?

Recovery Skin Rejuvenation- Minimal Down Time

After treatment, most patients experience only 1-3 hours of minor swelling and redness. This is due to Picolasers advanced technology doesn't burn and does not damage the surface of the skin. Immediately post treatment, makeup, moisturisers and sun screen may be applied to the skin.

Most Picolaser treatments are fast, gentle treatments, meaning less disruption to your routines and lifestyle.

Please avoid use of AHA's, BHA's and irritating skin care for 3-5 days post treatment.

Tattoo Removal Day 1-7

Following your tattoo removal treatment, the body will begin to digest and carry away the shattered ink fragments. During the first week, the skin will look swollen and red as it undergoes healing, which is totally normal. It is vital that strenuous exercise/activity is avoided following treatment  for a min 48 hours, as the increased flow of blood to the treatment site may increase the risk of irritation.

Following your tattoo removal session, it is important to follow these steps for a quick recovery:

  • You may apply an ice pack immediately to help draw out the heat, reduce inflammation and swelling in the treated area. Tenderness, redness and sensitivity are normal and managed by keeping the skin clean and applying antiseptic cream to the treated area.

  • Then, a clean waterproof bandage must be applied over the treated area for a minimum of 3 days.  The bandage can be changed after the 3 days and antiseptic cream should be reapplied underneath the bandage.

  • Do not wet the treatment site with water, as we do not want to remove any scabs that are forming.  This will ensure the new tissue/skin growing under the scab is healthy and intact, and infections will be avoided.

  • Avoid the sun as new skin is forming, as we do not want to end up with blisters or burns.

  • Avoid the sun as new skin is forming.

  • Don’t shave the treated area.

  • Do not pick or touch any scabs.

  • Ensure loose clothing is worn in the treated area, as to avoid rubbing and the possibility of infection.

Day 8-15

Once your tattoo removal has healed completely, you should still avoid high pressure water directly on the treatment site, swimming pools, saunas, direct sun exposure, excessive sweat, shaving, makeup and fake
tan.

Following treatment, your body will continue to break down and remove ink particles via the lymphatic system. A minimum of 3 or 5 sessions are usually required, spaced at 4 weeks apart, with a maximum of 10 sessions for lighter tattoo pigments/colours (yellows/pastels).

Pico Laser for Scarring

Pico laser treatments are effective in addressing stubborn acne scarring that may have resisted other treatment methods. The laser creates controlled thermal injury on the targeted area, which triggers the body's natural healing process. This stimulation of collagen production helps repair and remodel the skin, reducing the appearance of acne scars. Scientific studies have demonstrated the efficacy of Pico laser treatments for acne scars, with participants reporting satisfaction with the results. Additionally, patients typically experience minimal discomfort during the treatment.

Mechanism of Pico Laser

Pico laser technology is a highly effective and precise treatment for pigmented lesions and tattoos in treatable colours. It works by delivering ultra-short pulses of energy (photomechanically) to targeted areas without generating heat. This intense impact breaks down the problem skin pigment into smaller fragments/particles, which are then naturally eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system. The Pico laser's precision allows practitioners to achieve optimal results, while being gentle to the outer layer of the skin. Patients undergoing Pico treatments typically experience minimal to no discomfort.
